Opening, Closing and Saving Pages

The Book module shows all pages in Ladder view (default), Grid view or Signature view.

You can only edit a page if you have been given editing rights by your adviser or editor. To edit a page, a staff member must either be assigned to the page or granted general editing access.

If you see a “View Only” overlay when you hover over a page thumbnail, you cannot edit that page. This may mean you do not have editing rights, someone else is currently editing the page, or the page is in an advanced stage of production.

Double-click a page thumbnail to open it.

  • The opposite page will show a gray overlay until you click to open it too. Both pages must be open to place most templates or objects that cross the gutter.

To save click File > Save.

  • eDesign also auto-saves every 20 actions. When closing with unsaved work, eDesign will prompt you to save first.

To navigate between spreads within Page Design, use the mini ladder or the Previous/Next spread buttons.
