Sometimes designers want to have their page numbers always appear as the same number of digits. When set this way, the page number always occupies the same amount of space, and it looks nice. You can now have eDesign take care of this for you.
As an advisor or editor, open the folio. Then from the layout menu, you go to page number options. The default is digits based on number — in other words, the standard digits for each number. If you choose two digit minimum, every page number will be at least two digits. Use this if your book has fewer than a hundred pages. If you choose three digit minimum, every page number will be at least three digits, and you’ll use this if your book has a hundred or more pages.
While I was here, I added a bit more formatting to the folio. I’ll save and close. Now when I open a regular page in my book and look down at the page number, I’ll see that it is following the pattern I requested.
