Colors in eDesign work in the CMYK color space for printing — not the RGB colors you see on screen. Here’s what you need to know about applying and managing color swatches:
- Color accuracy: Colors on your monitor (RGB) don’t precisely match how they’ll print (CMYK). Use the printed color samples and colors poster in your yearbook kit, or a professional CMYK swatch book like Pantone Process Coated, when selecting colors.
- Apply colors: In Page Design, color swatches appear in various places including shapes, text, and backgrounds. The swatch with a dark outline indicates the currently applied color. Click any swatch to apply it.
- Rename swatches (advisers/editors): Click the pencil icon next to a swatch.
- Create a new swatch: With an object selected whose color isn’t in your swatch list (e.g., from an imported template), click Add Swatch. The CMYK values load automatically — give it a name and save to make it available to all users.
