The Background Tool lets you set solid color or image backgrounds for individual pages or the full spread. Here’s how to use it:
- Click the Background Tool in the toolbar. Controls appear in the top panel for the left page, right page, or full spread.
- Color backgrounds: Select a page or the spread and change the background color using the color controls.
- Image or Art backgrounds: Select a page or the spread, click the image icon to open the library panel. Drag and drop an image or piece of art to place it as the background behind all other content. You can adjust the opacity to make it more subtle.
- Placing single-page background images —When you have a single page control set and drag an image onto a page, the image is applied to page it was placed on, even if the opposite page was set in the control bar.
- Crop the background image: Click the Crop icon to enter crop mode — the same controls as regular image cropping apply.
- Flip the background: Use horizontal or vertical flip to mirror a background image — useful for matching a design across both pages of a spread.
- Remove background image: Click the Remove Image icon to clear the background image.
