Creating a Placeholder Flow
- From the Book module, select the page where the portrait section should begin.
- Go to the Edit menu and choose Portrait Flow.
- Click New Flow, then type a name for this group (e.g., “Freshmen”).
- Choose Placeholders, then enter the number of placeholder images — estimate how many actual portraits you expect in this section.
- Click Next to open the flow controls.
Flow Controls
- Layout: Confirm or change the start page. Select portrait size in picas (6 picas = 1 inch). Set rows and columns — defaults to the maximum that fit the selected portrait size.
- Frames: Choose portrait frame shape (square, rounded corners, or oval). Optionally, add a stroke around each frame.
- Text: Select a character style for names. Choose whether text appears to the side or below the portrait.
- Spacing and Margins: Adjust the column spacing, row spacing, and margins.
Deactivating Portrait Spots
- Click individual portrait boxes in the preview to exclude them from the flow (e.g., to make room for candids).
- Portrait Flow automatically adds frames to the end of the flow to maintain the total portrait count.
- Right-click a portrait to deactivate an entire row or column at once.
- To apply one page’s layout to all pages: choose to apply to all left pages, all right pages, or all pages.
Flowing
- When settings are ready, click Flow Portraits.
- Confirm your settings, then click Flow Portraits again.
- When complete, you’ll be returned to the Book module with your new portrait pages in place.
