Using Capitalization in Character Styles

← All Video Tutorials

Build capitalization formatting directly into character styles for automatic text transformation. When you apply the style, it applies not just font and color, but also capitalization changes.

Adding Capitalization to a Style

  1. Go to Settings > Design Styles > Character Styles
  2. Open the style you want to edit (or create a new one)
  3. Select the capitalization option from the menu (uppercase, lowercase, title case)
  4. Save the style

How It Works

When you apply this character style to text, it transforms all the text to match the capitalization setting. For example, applying an uppercase style instantly changes all selected text to uppercase.

Practical Example

Create a “Caption Lead-In” style with bold font, larger size, custom color, AND uppercase capitalization. When you apply this style to your caption opening, everything happens automatically—font change, color, size, and case transformation.

💡 TIP: Combining capitalization with character styles makes it easy to maintain consistent styling without relying on manual typing or tedious formatting.
