You can layer images in eDesign to create effects where subjects appear to extend out of a photo or overlap other design elements. Here’s the technique:
- Place a image on the page and size it to fit as desired. Tip: temporarily reduce image opacity to help you size it in relation to other elements on the page.
- Right-click the image > Send to Back to place it behind all other content.
- To create a layering effect (e.g., a subject appearing to pop out of a photo), place a cutout version of the same photo on top. The key is matching the scale of both images.
- Go into crop mode on the background image and note the scale percentage.
- Go into crop mode on the cutout version and set it to the same percentage. Now both images are identical in size inside their frames.
- Use keyboard arrow keys to nudge the cutout precisely over the background.
