Flowing Names Below Portraits

← All Video Tutorials

Display student names directly beneath their portrait photos for easy identification. This layout style requires larger portrait sizes and offers flexible spacing controls to balance portrait images and accompanying text.

Setting Up Names Below Portraits

In the Portrait Flow wizard, use at least 7×9 portrait sizing, though 8×10 or larger is recommended to accommodate space for names. In the Text controls area, choose Below for the text position to position names underneath the portraits.

  1. Open Portrait Flow and create or edit a flow
  2. Set portrait size to at least 8×10 picas
  3. In the Text section, select Below for text position
  4. Optionally place first and last names on separate lines
  5. Proceed to spacing and margins configuration

Spacing and Margins Control

The spacing and margins section provides precise control over portrait layout. Set horizontal spacing to control the gap between portrait columns and vertical spacing to control the distance between portrait rows. Increase the internal margin to center the portrait group on the page, pushing portraits away from the page edges.

💡 TIP: Changes to spacing values take a moment to reflect in the preview. Set both horizontal and vertical spacing to 2 picas as a good starting point, then adjust based on your layout needs.

Name Formatting

Select the character style that controls name appearance. You can manage or create character styles directly from the flow wizard. The names can appear as first name then last name, or be formatted on separate lines for a different visual effect.
