Flowing Grades with Portraits

 

When to Use This Feature

  • Use when flowing multiple grade levels in a single portrait group and you want to show each person’s grade alongside their name.
  • Options include: numeric grade (e.g., “9”), class name (e.g., “Freshmen”), or custom text (e.g., “Class of 2027”).

Preparing Your Data

  1. Go to the Book module → EditPortrait Flow → create a new flow.
  2. Name the flow (e.g., “Underclassmen”) and choose to flow portraits.
  3. Under Grades, check all grade values to include — including variants (e.g., check both “9” and “09” if both appear in your data).
  4. Click Next.

Setting Up the Flow

  1. In the Text area, choose Grade as the additional field to flow.
  2. Set the character style for grade designations.
  3. Set the separator between name and grade (e.g., a comma).
  4. In the grade table, change how each grade value displays:
    • Change “09” to “9” for consistency
    • Type “Freshmen”, “Sophomores”, etc. to display class names instead of numbers
    • Type “Class of 2027” or other custom text.
  5. Click Live Preview to verify the layout.
  6. Click Flow Portraits to apply.
